Often times I have someone come it that complains about tightness or soreness in one of the shoulders. Nine times out of ten it is on the side of handedness. Why is this important?
Because we tend to be strong handed to one side, the muscles tend to be tighter, stronger and want to pull to that side. How does that affect us thought and what can we do to help it? First of all, get adjusted!! The only way to correct a subluxation is to get it adjusted back to where it belongs, back to where it will not interfere with the nerve signals the brain is constantly sending to the rest of the body. If the vertebra is pulled to one side and is not corrected, the nerve roots coming from that area of the spine will have pressure on them preventing them from being able to transmit all the information the brain has sent out or needs to receive. Why is that important? Well, if the brain has received information that the body needs more oxygen in the blood but can't tell the lungs to breathe deeper to get that oxygen, then the rest of the body suffers. Is that a good enough reason? Second thing to do, stop being strong handed. Learn how to use both hands. Start slowly with small tasks, such as brushing your teeth. It will seem awkward at first, but you will eventually get it. This trains both sides to be strong together, maintaining balance. Do not start with hammering nails as your first rebalancing project, more than likely you will hit the wrong nail!
